Eligibility For A Flu Vaccine 2018-19

Booking Flu vaccines now for those >65 years and <65 year who are "at risk" patients.

Dates:

The following will be at the Surgery:

  • Tuesday 20th November  10.00am to 10.40am,
  • Wednesday 21st November 15.00pm to 16.00pm,
  • Wednesday 28th November 11.50am to 12.10pm,
  • Wednesday 5th December 16.50pm to 17.20pm
  • Drop in clinics will be avialble on:
  •                         Friday 23rd November 1.00pm to 4.00pm
  • Friday 30th November 9.00am to 12.00 and 1.00pm to 4.00pm

ELIGIBILITY FOR A FLU VACCINE IN 2018/19

The following cohorts of patients are eligible for a flu vaccination in 2018:

The eligible groups for the 2018/19 service are:

  • all people aged 65 years and over (including those becoming age 65 years by 31st March 2019)
  • people aged from 2 years to less than 65 years of age with one or more of the following medical conditions:
    • chronic respiratory disease ie as severe asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or bronchitis;
    • chronic heart disease, such as heart failure;
    • chronic kidney disease at stage three, four or five;
    • chronic liver disease;
    • chronic neurological disease, ie Parkinson’s disease, motor neurone disease or learning disability;
    • diabetes;
    • immunosuppression, a weakened immune system due to disease (ie HIV/AIDS) or treatment (ie cancer treatment);
    • asplenia or splenic dysfunction;
    • morbid obesity
  • pregnant women aged 18 or over (including those women who become pregnant during the flu season);
  • people aged 18 or over living in long-stay residential care homes or other long-stay care facilities;
  • social care workers;
  • hospice workers;
  • carers aged 18 or over;
  • household contacts of immunocompromised individuals who are aged 18 or over
  • children aged 2 and 3 (Born between 1 September 2014 and 31 August 2016)
  • children in reception class and school years 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 (The vaccine will be administered in school)
